What In The Fog?

Hello everyone, my name is JM, I'm the licensed optician at Eyes On Linton your Delray Beach Optometrist.

I'll be doing a little guest blogging from time to time to discuss things that are new in the optical.

Today I want to talk about something new in the world of optics and lens coatings,
Essilor Optifog, a lens that resists fogging.

Now you may be saying, "That's absolutely preposterous JM, there's nothing in the world that can do that." And trust me I was a skeptic as well up until today. I was given a personal demonstration of the power of this outstanding lens technology. What's also great is this Optifog technology is paired with Essilors Crizal Anti Reflective coating to give the user both fog and reflection free lenses.

The Optifog lens is activated by the Optifog Activator by simply adding a drop of this concentrate to each side of the Optifog lens. By gently wiping with a microfiber cloth to make sure the entire surface, eyeglass wearers will find that their vision becomes perfectly fog-free up to one week.

The only downside to this is, you can't just put this solution on any lens. It will only work with the special process our lab does when the glasses are being generated.

If you'd like to see a personal demonstration please come in anytime to Eyes On Linton your Delray Beach Optometrist

Here is a video to show you how well it works

Glaucoma The Silent Theif In The Night.

What eye disease can cause blindness with no symptoms of red eyes, no blurry vision, no pain, no watering, no itchiness? Just wake up one day and wonder why it is so dark outside. Before you go to work in the morning and driving by cars and realizing that you cannot see the cars go by, no side vision.

You are going blind.

Your vision is being stolen by the silent thief, the thief in the dark, that leads to blindness.

Over the years detecting and early diagnosing glaucoma has changed greatly. We used to feel high eye pressures was the only way to find glaucoma. But today family history, thin corneas (measured by ultra sound), pressure checking at different times of the day, 3-D laser scanning of the optic nerve fiber thickness, threshold visual field testing are all tools that can help early diagnose the thief. Our Delray Beach Optometrist has all of these tools.

And saving you from a world of darkness.

Is a free eye exam worth it?

I just saw a TV advertisement about a new optical and frame company. To entice new patients they advertise 2 pair of glasses at a cheap price and a free eye exam. I guess the optical company believes that people watching TV don't care about their health. What kind of eye medical exam is free? I guess a 5 minute drive through exam?

The State of Florida demands that when an optometrist is seeing a new patient, for the first time, a thorough eye exam must be performed which includes dilating the pupils of the patient. This is time consuming. That's why at our Delray Beach Optometry office a new patient may spend an hour running through tests.

People appreciate spending time with them, not rushing. It is wrong to deceive the public that a medical eye exam is a commodity. If a medical doctor gave you a free medical check-up and missed your cancer, what good was it that it was free? Who wants that?

Apparently this optical corporation is not concerned about the well being of the public. Only that they get a volume to make their share holders profit.
